A Note from the Editor
One of the things I always try to remember is that whatever I do, I should enjoy the journey. Putting this book together has been a journey indeed, with several delays and a few bumps along the way, yet still a gratifying trip. Thanks to all of you who responded with your biographic information, and especially for the many personal notes. It has been especially fun to see so many of you at the reunion.
This publication attempts to provide information about all our classmates. It is not a legal document, and therefore, not a record of graduates, so it is not restricted to those who officially graduated. Not all our classmates spent the entire four years with us, and not all our classmates did the cap-and-gown walk with us. For whatever time they were at Wilson, they were part of our lives and are included here.
In editing the material you submitted, I focused on spelling, punctuation, grammar and to some extent sentence structure. Many of you wrote in a stream-of-consciousness style, a listing of memories or events. I did convert a few of these sentence fragments to full sentences in order to improve readability, but I hesitated to make too many changes less the writing lose what we English teachers call the writer's "voice." It is that sense of different voices that make the document so interesting to read. (My computer did not like these sentence fragments at all, and highlighted every one as a grammatical problem!
I did end up editing bios for length. Several members of the publishing committee felt strongly that no entry should exceed one page. In most cases, this was not a problem, but for those that were extended, I hope the edited version is representative of what those writers wanted their classmates to know about them. I enjoyed reading everything submitted, and if my edited versions offen, I apoligize.
The picures submitted were of great variety, from computer images to formal portraits. In determining the final format, all photos were reduced in size to match high school graduation pictures which appear with each bio.
The book received very careful editing so the result should be fairly clean of errors. The document represents our best efforts which sould be pleasing to all. It has been a long and sometimes tedious journey, but a joyful and satisfying one. Thanks to alll of you for contributing to a great trip!
